"a response to terrorism
O God, who art the author of peace and lover of concord,
in knowledge of whom standeth our eternal life,
whose service is perfect freedom:
Defend us, thy humble servants,
in all assaults of our enemies;
that we, surely trusting in thy defense,
may not fear the power of any adversaries;
through the might of Jesus Christ our Lord.
Amen.
-from the Book of Common Prayer
Jesus said to his disciples, 'Why are you still afraid? Do you still have no faith?' - Mark 4:40
there's so much fear in the air. i refuse to live my life this way."
I am grateful to the Ashram for this reminder- It is our duty as people of faith to stand firm in the peace of Jesus Christ. It would do us good to remember at this time that our attitude should be the same as that of Christ Jesus:
'Who, being in very nature God,
did not consider equality with God something to be grasped,
but made himself nothing,
taking the very nature of a servant,
being made in human likeness.
And being found in appearance as a man,
he humbled himself
and became obedient to death—
even death on a cross!
Therefore God exalted him to the highest place
and gave him the name that is above every name,
that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow,
in heaven and on earth and under the earth,
and every tongue confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father.'

Christ is our example, especially in the face of fear and violence. In the face of nations asserting their domination, he was humble; in the face of hatred, he loved continuously; and in the face of violence, he refused revenge. By the Spirit, may we all keep Christ as our eternal Example and Teacher.
